Considered one of the oldest martial arts, Wrestling exists in many forms in virtually every country of the world.

There are 2 recognized styles of wrestling at the international level: Freestyle and Greco Roman of which the most popular style and the one practiced in Canada is Freestyle wrestling.

Freestyle wrestling involves using various techniques to take your opponent from their feet to their back in order to pin them. Different points are awarded for different types of takedowns.

Wrestling is the only combat sport in which techniques are designed not to injure your opponent.

Wrestling develops physical endurance, muscle mass, flexibility and agility.

Wrestling & MMA

Wrestling is an essential part of MMA. It allows good strikers to stay on their feet and avoid a takedown. At the same time, it allows good grapplers to take the fight where they want it and keep it there. Wrestling training also develops the stamina needed to get through 3 to 5 grueling rounds of MMA competition.
