GAMMA Muay Thai student Marc-André Ranger recently left for Thailand in order to train at one of the world’s top Muay Thai schools, Fairtex, located in Bangplee. As a favour to his Muay Thai coach, Patrick Charron, he has agreed to keep a weekly blog in order to share some of this incredible experience.

Blog entry #1 (part 2)

Sorry bro,

We pretty much have to eat between 9-9h15 otherwise our plate disappears. 2 meals are included in the package. First at 9h00 the other one at 5h15.

Often in the middle of the day I grab a protein shake at the front office for 100 THB. I mix that with some multivitamins I brought with me and it gives me the pop I need for the afternoon session.

Anyway...I was not done...

After the sit ups with punches in the abs, I need to do 50 chin ups. I can't do them all at once so I split the series 15-10-5-5-5-5....

That was my training for the first week...

Gott told me, (In sign language because he can't speak a word of English) that each week we will add a round of pads, we'll do more kicks, more push ups, more sit ups...etc...

Pads were hard at first because I didn’t understand what he wanted me to do, but now I understand when he places the pad at one place it's because he expects me to hit that way...We pretty much understand each other now.

And we repeat this training 2x a day.

So this was only my first week over here. I can't wait to get back to training tomorrow. Gott is still young and just started training people 3 months ago (when he got injured) so he is really motivated. Most of the trainers here really seem to care about their students and it makes it even easier to train. They really want you to improve and get better...they are not there only to hold pads, I heard that is the main difference between Fairtex and other gyms. Here we are trained by champs.

Oh and yesterday I saw Narupol (a world champion) training over here. I also heard that Yodsendklai is here once a week training when he is not in a tournament somewhere. I'll try to take picture soon and post them.

Do not hesitate if you have questions.

Take care bro!
